Who We Are
The Greater Columbus Community Orchestra (GCCO) originated in the 1960s as the Northwest Civic Orchestra. This ensemble grew into the Upper Arlington Civic Orchestra, and in 2001, the organization sought non-profit status as the Upper Arlington Community Orchestra. In 2008, the orchestra again revised its name to reflect the ensemble’s broader constituency, and shifted the group’s base to Hilliard. Today, it remains the Greater Columbus Community Orchestra.
GCCO is dedicated to the enhanced appreciation and understanding of orchestral music in Central Ohio and surrounding communities. The ensemble provides an open door opportunity for musicians of all backgrounds to learn and perform orchestral music for others through lighthearted, enjoyable and educational concerts.
All performances are free and open to the public, and GCCO invites every community member, regardless of musical background, to attend.
