When and where are rehearsals held?

Rehearsals take place every Monday during the rehearsal cycle from 7-9 p.m. at Hilliard Presbyterian Church (3600 Leap Rd., Hilliard, OH 43026). Musicians are expected to arrive in time to warm up, set up stands/equipment, and begin promptly at 7 p.m.

What are the audition requirements?

Greater Columbus Community Orchestra (GCCO) is a non-audition orchestra with an open door policy to all backgrounds.

If there are no auditions, how are seating arrangements and section principals selected?

Typically, musicians sit where they are most comfortable. Section leadership often rotates from concert to concert, and principals are chosen based on a combination of expressed interest and proven experience. Musicians interested in moving forward should feel free to discuss their growth goals with their section principal, the music director, or the personnel manager.

What level of proficiency is expected on my instrument?

Our ensemble is made up of amateur, retired, and semi-professional musicians. Musicians should be able to read music and be prepared to play a wide range of orchestral pieces.

What is the time commitment for the season?

Members commit to performing on a concert-by-concert basis, providing flexibility in participation and opportunities for section leadership. Rehearsal dates are listed on this website, and each rehearsal lasts approximately two hours.

Please note that members are expected to attend every rehearsal of a performance cycle, with absences limited to one or two for unexpected circumstances.

How much does it cost to participate?

Each concert is $35 or you can pay in advance for all concerts for a reduced rate of $125.
